Eleventh Time’s a Charm!

The Hobart Festival of Women Writers 2024 – held on the weekend of June 7, 8 &9th – celebrated women authors with our eleventh in-person annual three-day Festival. There was a lot of excitement.

We had a raft of craft workshops, three public readings open to all, two panel discussions, an art exhibit entitled “Absence Is Not Empty,” and lots of books for sale. A highlight of the weekend was the panel discussion, Black Lesbian Publishing which brought together Cheryl Clarke, Alexis DeVeaux, Jewelle Gomez and Briona Simone Jones to discuss the groundbreaking publications that have defined the Black Lesbian literary archive.
